Deviousness |
Logically, Ella does not carry a gun or need one. I admit it would make her situation easier, but Ella has no use for weapons in the types of cases she takes on. Remember that this is a personal business, which means she is not required to take every case that walks in her door as a cop would. Ella stays out of any case that would require her to put her life in danger.
I think there is a mix up between private investigators and detectives here. Detectives are higher level police officers that do more or less the same job as PIs, but investigate serious crime like murders, are tied to the law, require weaponry, and can use it freely to stop wayward suspects. Private Investigators are independent of the law and are hired for a variety of subject areas. If they were to pull a gun on someone, the police would investigate the PI to make sure it was self-defense. The key thing to remember is that PIs work outside of the law.
Someone like Jason is more likely to own a firearm than Ella, because he does enjoy investigating and has been doing this for quite some time. Even then, he turns cases over to the police if things get serious. Keep in mind jurisdiction and justice issues.
I am glad you like my comic, and I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
